Ah Ha! Look at me, doing a status update so close to the beginning of the month. It feels odd, I’m not sure what to do… I mean, other than do the thing I logged on here to do. The thing I keep telling people I’m going to keep doing.
Right now I’m sitting at the Deckhand Social, down here in Panama City Beach. Good food, good margaritas, I get to watch boats come in and out of the lagoon. Dream of a sailboat in the future. It’s a fun thing to do on the weekends, and kind of a personal reward for me, if I do all the things I say I’m going to do throughout the week. All the work and all the writing and many other things that go into who I am. Things like providing this update.
I’m also staring at the cover of Storm of Souls. This cover is amazing. J Caleb Design knocked it out of the park. It’s such a good cover that it makes me want to write Jen’s story. I’ve already put that pen to paper.
Which leads me to the status update. Crown of Bones is almost ready to be put on preorder. Storm of Souls is getting its final edit at the end of August. And the as-yet-unnamed Grimm story is almost… almost… almost in the hands of its first reader. My plan is to get everything ready to be released one month apart, starting around November.
Currently I’m writing a different kind of story, what I’ll call a historical fantasy. I’m a hundred and twenty pages into that, so over the half-way point and closer to the end than the beginning. I hope to finish that book in the next week or two and start the cycle of editing there.
But after that, I’m thinking it’s time to tell a Jen story. She’s such a badass, and I’m excited about it. Especially after seeing this:
Awesome job Jake. Thanks for the badass cover, and for getting Jen just right. I do think it’s time for her to step up and become something more.
