Status Update – May 2024

This is a new thing for me. Like many of you, I have a life. I have a job other than writing. In the small moments I have to myself, I go and do things. I write because I have to write, because it calls to me, because I can’t imagine a world where I don’t have a story to tell, and while I have a thousand books I want to write, and hope to write ultimately I don’t really know how many I will get to write.

If it was up to me, it would be thousands of them. I would live forever so it could be all of them, until I wrote the very last word of my very last story on the very last page. Writing consumes me, it’s everything I am and want to be, so I’ll write until I can’t write anymore. I think that’s not just a promise to you all, but a promise of me to myself.

So back to life. Storm of Souls was actually really almost finished a year ago. I thought I would have 3-4 more books out since then, and that Crown of Bones and Storm of Souls and the “as yet untitled sequel to Storm of Souls” would be out now.

Life happens though. One year ago, right around now, I injured a nerve in my back, to such a degree only I could, which led to a crazy year of things. It delayed writing, editing, publishing, everything. Everything but getting right.

You’ll hear this from me a lot, but I’m a big believer in leaving the world a better place than when I entered it. And the first step of that is bettering ourselves. And the largest part of that is overcoming anything and everything in our way. So for me each day is making sure I can be the best person I can be, in everything I am, and so… writing was delayed a bit while I could do that.

Finally, right now, I’m back in the swing of things. Getting up super early to make sure I get a large amount of writing in. Getting those books edited. And getting them out to you.

Thrilled about that. However, when I look back at all my posts (of which there aren’t enough) I realized I need to do a better job of keeping in touch. Of letting those people who read and enjoy my books know about what’s going on. What I’m working on now. What I think I’m working on next. And when they can expect the next story from me.

So, I have Crown of Bones, the fourth book in the Grimm Universe, ready to be published. I’m holding that a bit while Storm of Souls, the sequel to Crown of Bones, is fully edited and ready to be published. And I’m about to finish the sequel to Storm of Souls, so readers can look forward to three new books in the Grimmverse this year.

Also – I have a new book coming out as well this year. Kind of an older, not quite historical fantasy book based in the 1700’s. And after this sequel without a name is finished (I have a name, but I kind of feel it might spoil things by naming the name right now), I plan on writing a first novel of another series, a modern day mythological thriller, loosely based in the Norse world but which will cover other mythologies as well.

So – status update in May. I hope to include some of this in a monthly newsletter, but mostly I want these posts here for you readers. Promises from me to you, to let you know more is coming. That out of a thousand or more stories, nine hundred and ninety-six more are being readied for you.

Status Update – August 2024

Ah Ha! Look at me, doing a status update so close to the beginning of the month. It feels odd, I’m not sure what to do… I mean, other than do the thing I logged on here to do. The thing I keep telling people I’m going to keep doing. Right now I’m sitting at the...

Grimm Update – Crown of Bones

I feel like a lot of progress is happening now. My plan is to release three to four more Grimm stories through the end of the fall and into winter. Maybe one a month starting around Thanksgiving. Three of them have been written, so I believe the plan will work,...

Status Update – July 2024

So, not quite an update a month. Almost not quite an update in two months. And I keep thinking I had the best of intentions... Still, there's great news to report. Crown of Bones has finished its final edit and I'm currently putting together the inside matter for it....
